Closure Guidance (Updated 1st May 2020)

My continued thanks to all the staff, parents and children for the way they are managing through this difficult time; it really shows that the community spirit and values that Cherrywood is so proud of can withstand whatever comes our way.  Whilst I have personally seen and spoken to most of you, I wanted to reassure you that there are staff available to support you in a number of ways so please do get in touch.  We remain fully committed to supporting our families and even in these unusual circumstances, safeguarding pupils is at the heart of what we do.  In addition to continuing to follow our usual safeguarding procedures we are complying with all government guidance both in relation to pupil health and safety (social distancing, hand washing etc.) and safeguarding.  For more information please visit the policies page to see an addendum to our Child Protection policy.

I still enjoy seeing what you have all been up to through the posts on Tapestry, and whilst I’m not able to comment on individual posts because there are so many, I really look forward to reading about all you are doing.   As we have all had to adapt to working and learning more online, it is so important that we keep our children safe on the internet.  Please visit http://cherrywoodprimary.co.uk/e-safety/  and the links below for guidance and further information.

We miss you all and are looking forward to seeing everyone when this is over!

Stay Safe

Latest Information

The school continues to be open as long as needed to provide childcare for those families indicated by the Government.  At present we do not know when schools will be open for more children.  Once the Government has made decisions about this and produced guidance for when this will occur and how it will be managed we will be in touch to explain what this will mean for the families of Cherrywood.

If you need to get in touch with the school please phone on 01252 547896 (please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible) or email adminoffice@cherrywood.hants.sch.uk.

Please follow these links for the latest government information.

Home Learning

We are supporting parents at this time through the use of Tapestry which allows teachers and parents to communicate.  If you are having any difficulties accessing this please contact the school. Teachers are posting messages each day from Monday to Friday and will continue to do this through Bank Holidays and May Half Term.

If your family is entitled to Free School Meals (this does not include the Universal Free School Meals that are usually available for every Early Years or Key Stage 1 child) then you will have been contacted by the school and a home delivery of these arranged.  If you have not been contacted and you believe that you are entitled please contact the school via the email above as soon as possible.  Alternatively you can check your eligibility by using the FSM eligibility checker on the Hampshire County Council website  https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants .

Many of you with children due to start Cherrywood School or move to secondary school in September may have questions in relation to how this will be managed. At present unfortunately I am unable to provide more details as we do not know how long schools will be required to remain closed.  I can reassure you that contact will be made on an individual basis once we have a better idea of reopening dates.
