Rushmoor in Bloom 2018

As a school, we always work hard to make sure that our school grounds look wonderful and inviting to everyone. In preparation for the Rushmoor in Bloom competition, the children and class teachers worked extremely hard to grow vegetables and flowers in our allotments so that we could enter the ‘Edible Patch’ category of the completion.  The Eco-Rangers were also been busy planting and decorating our entry in the ‘Planitlicious Plant Pot’ category and we were all extremely hopeful that we would do well.

In June, we were visited by the Rushmoor in Bloom judges who came to inspect our allotments and pot. The Eco-Rangers showed them around the school and spoke about what each class had been doing throughout the year.  Some classes even used some of their allotment fruits and vegetables to make tasty treats for the judges to enjoy.   All of the children involved were a wonderful example of the ethos here at Cherrywood; polite, confident and welcoming.  The judges were very impressed with the school and the children and spoke highly of their visit.

Since the visit, we have received confirmation that we were placed 3rd for the ‘Plantilicious Pot’ and we also came 1st in the ‘Edible Patch’ category.  What a fabulous achievement!
